The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Alien Intelligence is a testable experiment in multi-intelligence governance: bringing human, artificial, and natural intelligence into structured dialogue to make wiser decisions about the commons.

Using the cultural power, philosophical humour, and unique rights we hold in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, we will build living AI civic characters, including Marvin, Deep Thought, and the BabelFish, as tools for deliberation, translation, scepticism, and long-range reasoning.

Human communities will be invited through a public Request for Guidance focused on one urgent task: how to build wiser governance for shared natural commons. Natural intelligence will enter through partners such as Eternal Forest and the World Climate School, bringing forests, rivers, land, animals, and ecological systems into the process.

The core innovation is Proof of Understanding: a formal mechanism for testing whether one intelligence has understood another well enough to respond, adapt, and act responsibly. These proofs accumulate into a trust graph, supported by self-sovereign identity and verifiable relationship credentials.

Our unique approach blends science fiction’s cultural reach with measurable civic technology, enabling diverse stakeholders to participate in sophisticated multi-intelligence dialogues that produce testable, impactful decisions the world urgently needs.
